MSU Generations
First Generation MSU
Identifying
usually have a version 3.1 or 3.2 Edge Controller PCB inside (unless they have been upgraded)
will have 'G-501' as the product code
Limitations
The battery charging logic in first generation MSUs was quite basic. This means that the battery will take a while to return to 100% and will discharge to around 50% when the floodlights are left on for an extended period of time.
The internal battery charger struggles to power the floodlights for an extended period of time and can overheat. It requires a power cycle (unplug the charger and plug it in again) to reset. Later versions with the external mains charger do not have this problem and can power the floodlights permanently.
