Recording
The Giraffe Cloud and Edge Controllers implement a 'hybrid' storage model.
High definition and standard definition streams from cameras are recorded continuously to a local disk plugged into the Edge Controller.
Artificial intelligence events (such as vehicle or person detections) are uploaded to the Giraffe Cloud for offsite storage.
The benefit of this design is that everything is recorded 24/7, but the bandwidth usage is kept to a minimum because footage is only streamed when it is required.
Footage can be streamed from the Edge Controller from anywhere. There is no need to be local to the Edge Controller. When you stream footage, the Edge Controller seamlessly sets up a tunnel in the background and streams it to your computer.
When the local disk connected to the Edge Controller becomes full, the oldest footage is deleted. Footage can be exported from the Edge Controller to the Giraffe Cloud for long term storage.
